Born in Manila, Philippines, he had a strong calling and determination to become a doctor. He was trained in the prestigious University of the Philippines College of Medicine where he take pride in being trained by the best doctors in the country. He first got interested in surgery, then with obstetrics and gynecology and later on, in neonatalogy and pediatrics. As a graduate of UP, he values his education deeply and became a well-rounded physician. He never intended to go to abroad, until his choir - the well-renowned UP Medicine Choir - had its US Tour in 2001. After visiting seven US cities, he was astounded by the success of Filipino doctors all over the US and determined to take his own medical career to their level. While other medical graduates pursue specialists training, he finds family medicine as the perfect marriage of all he loved about medicine.
He managed to complete his USMLE and later got accepted as a pre-matched resident in the Penn State Hershey Family Medicine Program.
Life in the US has been challenging, especially with no single family relative around. Dr. Ramirez managed several winters in Lebanon, Pennsylvania where he learned the US healthcare system. He enjoyed his time in residency; Hershey Medical Center a hodge-podge of intelligent international medical graduates with different backgrounds, culture and interests. His senior project involves developing a diabetes program in a community health center in Samana, Dominican Republic. He became passionate about health equity and it has been his devotion with all his experiences with community medicine. He believes in creating healthy communities and health equality. Race, gender and socio-economic status makes us different but healthcare should be accessible and evidence-based. His first job as a physician was at a medicaid clinic (federally-qualified health center) in Johnston, Rhode Island, where he eventually served as the medical director. With his penchant for teaching, he soon joined Thundermist Health Center (also a FQHC) as a clinical instructor for medical students and residents. He was drawn to outpatient procedures, where he precepts learners on out patient consults and minor procedures.
Working in an academic setting further led him to different interests. He pursued board certifications on obesity practice (made him a better primary care provider), lipidology (because of a health scare in 2017) and menopause medicine (because of his understanding of hormones). He has been to multiple conferences and workshops on LGBTQIA care, MSK ultrasound and in 2018, medical aesthetics. Aside from all that, he had always wanted to open up his own practice: hence, he started to purse an MBA degree in GWU but eventually finished with a Executive Masters in Healthcare Administration in UNLV in 2025. He is done with studying now.
In 2020, Dr. Ramirez moved to Henderson, NV to pursue a different course than academic medicine. He was recruited and eventually signed up with a major clinic handling Medicare patients. Due to the unreasonable restrictions and devaluation of well-educated primary care doctors brought by corporatization of medicine, he strived for years to open his own primary care practice. He had to learn the business of medicine: coding, financial reporting, marketing, etc. Finally, in 2024, he opened the doors of Inspirada Primary Care and Kutis Medical Aesthetics; two distinct medical facilities that nurtures his life experiences, his dedication to family medicine and a realization of his dreams.
